(Charlotte, NC) -- Campus Pride in partnership with Hope’s Voice announces Divas of Diversity, an exciting new program to embrace differences and celebrate diversity with the unforgettable talent of Logo’s hit show RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 1, 2 and 3 -- Bebe Zahara Benet, Pandora Boxx, Shangela and Shannel. Starting today, Divas of Diversity college bookings will benefit Campus Pride as well as other charities with a donation from each booking.

“Campus Pride is thrilled to support Hope’s Voice to bring the talent of RuPaul’s Drag Race to college campuses with a timely message of acceptance and diversity,” said Shane Windmeyer, Executive Director of Campus Pride. “Acts of bias, harassment and bullying plague college campus communities, especially when it comes to the diversity of gender expression and gender identity. ‘Divas of Diversity’ has the power to entertain, enlighten and educate as only drag queens can – in heels with conviction and pride.”
The Divas of Diversity program includes your choice of a diva, either Bebe, Pandora, Shangela or Shannel, sharing their personal story of discrimination and acceptance. The event is topped off with a spectacular drag show performance. Divas of Diversity brings together young people to be educated, inspired and to create a conversation around diversity for their campus. In addition, campuses have the opportunity to add featured workshops, Drag 101 and/or Diva for a Day, both can help even the most meek college students find their inner diva.
“Hope’s Voice is honored and excited to partner with Campus Pride. The ‘Divas of Diversity’ is a powerful and personal event that celebrates each students’ unique differences. The important work of Campus Pride embraces and strengthens this belief and together we are creating a conversation on college campuses that will inspire students” Todd Murray, President/Founder of Hope’s Voice, said.
This year Campus Pride will not only partner with Hope’s Voice to support Divas of Diversity on college campuses but also Campus Pride will feature candid videos, photos as well as an “Ask A Diva” section on their blog at www.campusprideblog.org starting in September 2011.
“Whether you’re queer, gay, bi, lesbian, trans or a straight person, events like Divas of Diversity can bring together diverse college audiences in the spirit of fun --- but ultimately with a greater purpose to change hearts and minds,” said Windmeyer. “To quote RuPaul, ‘Can I get an amen?’”
