The Impact & Interpretation: Supreme Court Christian Legal Society v. Martinez (UC Hastings) Decision
Thursday, August 12th :: 1:30 p.m. EST
In early July, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a ruling that could have a major impact on how colleges and universities interact with student organizations, especially those which discriminate against other students based on sexual orientation, gender identity or other characteristics. Join Campus Pride for this special webinar moderated by Shane Windmeyer, executive director of Campus Pride, with expert panelists John Culhane, professor at Widener Law; D’Arcy Kemintz, Esq., executive director of the LGBT Bar Association; Shannon Minter, Esq.,, Legal Director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights; and Brian K. Research & Action: The State of Higher Education for LGBT People
Tuesday, September 21st :: Noon or 3 p.m. EST
To be released in mid-September 2010, the State of Higher Education for LGBT People is the most comprehensive national research of its kind. The report was compiled from the 2010 Campus Pride National College Climate Survey documenting the experiences of nearly 6000 students, faculty, staff and administrators who identify as LGBTQQA at colleges and universities across the United States. Recommendations and findings from the national study provide the means for student activists, campus program planners and policy makers to implement strategic initiatives to address the needs and concerns of their LGBTQQA students and employees. Specific measures from the report will be shared to take action on your campus. The webinar will be conducted by Dr. Sue Rankin, the lead researcher and co-director of Campus Pride's Q Research Institute for Higher Education and Shane Windmeyer, national best-selling author and executive director of Campus Pride.
Queer it Up: Your "New Agenda" for National Coming Out Day
Monday, October 11th :: Noon or 3 p.m. EST
Yeah, we have said it "We're here, We're queer"—but where is "here" exactly?! Now is the time to "Queer It Up." Campus Pride releases on National Coming Out Day a bold "New Agenda" for LGBT and ally students to be visible and take action. The agenda provides an action plan of programs, policy and practice to implement on your campus. Still today only thirty percent of all four year public and private colleges have sexual orientation in their nondiscrimination statement and less than twelve percent have inclusion of gender identity/expression. College admission forms, housing forms, health forms are largely absent of ways for LGBT students to be "out" and for their needs and concerns to be "heard." National higher education research such as the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) still do not ask demographic questions to identify and better understand the experiences of LGBT students. Higher education has reached a point of "paralyzed progress" on LGBT issues—not sure where to go or how to accomplish what is next?! Plan this webinar as part of your National Coming Out Day activities and get ready to "Queer It Up!"

Stop The Hate: Developing a Bias Incident Reporting Team (BIRT)
Wednesday, November 17th :: 3 p.m. EST
Hate and bias impacts every college and university. Effective hate crime and bias prevention efforts include a way for campuses to report, monitor and respond to bias incidents when they happen. One way for colleges to take responsibility for creating a safe learning environment is by having a BIRT for students, faculty and staff to report bias and ultimately support victims. BIRTs have been an increasing measure for campus safety and retention efforts over the last decade. This webinar will put your campus on track to develop a BIRT by providing an understanding of the impact of a BIRT, guiding principles to developing a BIRT, and proposed BIRT models for your campus.
Note: These webinars are part of the Campus Pride Series for LGBT and ally issues/concerns and bias/prejudice reduction programs. The track is a partnership between Campus Pride and CAMUSPEAK. A portion of proceeds benefit the charitable work of Campus Pride. When you register for this webinar, your college/university has a chance to win a FREE REGISTRATION ($795 value) for a student to attend the 2011 Campus Pride Summer Leadership Camp in July.
